Dr. Warren Strickland & Jim Martin: Turkey Gun Modifications to the Mossberg 935
Warren explains the turkey gun modifications made to the Mossberg 935, as he and Jim pattern their guns for the upcoming turkey season. Averaging double “Grand Slams” over past years qualifies Dr. Warren Strickland as a knowledgeable resource when setting up shotgun for turkey hunting. Both Jim Martin and Warren start with the same Mossberg 935. This is Part 2 of 6 in a series exploring all facets of setting up shotguns for turkey hunting.
I called Warren to see if Jim and I could come over to learn how he has modified his Mossberg 935 for turkey hunting. I had just given Jim a 935 and we wanted to take it through the extreme patterning process that Warren does with his turkey guns. The process was so involved that we decided to create a full series of videos on his steps for setting up a turkey gun with modifications, and showing the patterning process.
Warren explains some of the benefits of starting with a good gun like the 935 which is designed for big loads with it’s 10 gauge bore. He explains the increase in efficiency he achieved by changing out his 27″ barrel for a longer barred, ported it and had the bore polished.
Warren added a rail for his red dot and also had his trigger adjusted.
